Average down calculator
Find out how many shares to buy to reach the average price you want.
How to use it
- Type the shares you own and your average price.
- Type the price you can buy at now.
- Type the average you want, or how many you plan to buy.
What averaging down means
If a stock you own falls, buying more at the lower price brings your average cost down. Then the stock needs a smaller rise for you to make a profit.
FormulaShares to buy = Owned x (Average - Target) / (Target - New price)
A word of care
Averaging down puts more money into a stock that is falling. It works best when you still believe in the company. Many traders set a limit on how much they add.

What is WACC in NEPSE?Questions
How do I calculate my new average after buying more?
Add the cost of your old shares and new shares, then divide by the total number of shares. Pick My new average to do it here.
Why can't I pick any target average?
Your new average always lands between your old average and the new buy price. A target outside that range is not possible.
Are fees included?
No. This tool shows the plain average. Use the WACC calculator to include broker fees.
