What a circuit is

NEPSE limits how far one stock can move in a day. Since 21 April 2026, the limit is 15% up or down from the last closing price. When a stock hits it, people say it hit the circuit.

FormulaUpper limit = Close x 1.15. Lower limit = Close x 0.85

Why it matters

When a stock hits its upper circuit, there are many buyers and few sellers, so buy orders may not fill. The next day's limit is worked out from the new close.

Questions

What is the circuit limit in NEPSE?

A single stock can move up to 15% up or down from its last closing price in one day. It was 10% before 21 April 2026.

How do I calculate the upper circuit?

Multiply the last closing price by 1.15. For a Rs 542 close, the upper circuit is Rs 623.30.

Does the whole market have a circuit too?

Yes. If the NEPSE index moves too far in one day, trading is paused or stopped for the day.
